    3. They wanted to show that they have power over everyone and if someone breaks the lax the will find and kill them.

    4. I think they chose to do it at a soccer game because it is a big event with a lot of people where could show off there power over the people

    1. I think that they do it to show that the taliban are in control and if you do anything bad they will kill you.

    2. They found it a way to entertain and to put fear into people because it was showing everybody that the Taliban was in control and could do whatever they want.

    3. To show off there power and how they can do what ever they want to the people

      Delete
    4. This is a cruel way to entertain and show power.

    5. It also shows you that there really is know choice for rule

  3. What is the reason for the man and women to be stoned in front of everyone at halftime, of the soccer game?

    1. I think it is a display of power. They are showing that they can kill anyone and anywhere in any method.

      Delete
    2. I don't think there was a reason, i think it was just something that was chosen to be done right then and there

      Delete
    3. It really shows how out of control the whole country was and how brutal the Taliban was on the people.

  4. Why was the man on the corner trying to sell his leg?

    1. Because he needed money. People were also willing to buy meat no matter what animal or human it came from. They were in survival meat.

    2. He was trying to get money to feed his family.

  5. Why does Amir refer to his home in Afghanistan as "Babas house"?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Because he doesn't really want to be associated with his father after he learned about his past.

      Delete
    2. Why doesn't amir think of house like HIS house not baba's.

      Delete
    3. @Tanner Sparks
I believe that he refers to it like that out of respect for Baba, because Baba was the one who accomplished it and was successful enough to own that house.
      -Matt Myers.

      Delete
    4. Because the whole time that he spent in Afghanistan as a kid he lived in babas house

      Delete
    5. Yes Jimmy, but think about this. I know your dads name is Bill. When you are 38 years old and you go back to the house you are living in now, will you refer to the home as, "Bill's Home"?

  6. What does Amir want to do? Why does he think this is insane?

  7. Why does the Taliban kill people in public. Other civilzations don't publicly kiil if they kill. They have people disappear but not publicly killed.

    3. I think that the taliban kill people in public to show that they are in charge and put fear into people so that they wont revolt and they will just do what ever the taliban say or be killed.

    4. To show how powerful they are. to show what they will doto you if you disobey them.

    5. I think that Taliban kills people in public because they can and because they are the people who are in power they are not going to get in trouble

  8. When he goes to see babas house, are the Taliban still there? and why couldnt he stay there instead of a hotel?

    1. It might not have been Taliban but someone was living there because there was a car in the driveway.

      Delete
    2. Because it would have been suspicious and dangerous. the Taliban could kill him if they found out that someone lived there.

    3. @Chris Davis
The house was in ruins pretty much. He wouldn't be able to stay there comfortably.

  9. On page 259, "I saw a dead body near the restaurant... Hardly anyone seemed to notice him." Why was everyone so accustomed to death? Is everyone so savage that they forget the morals of being civilized?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I feel when you see that much death you almost have to get used to it if you let yourself feel bad for all the dead body's your going to walk around feeling pretty bad.

  11. Does the power being out in Kabul symbolize that something bad is going to happen?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Something bad is already happening... Did you not read the chapter?

      Delete
    2. Yes, I did read the chapter. I know something bad is happening but the bad things going on right now have been going on for a while, whereas the power has only been off for two days, therefor symbolizing Afghan is breaking down and something terrible is going to occur, something that hasn't been an existing issue.

    3. When Amir arrives in Afghanistan he visits his old house. Earlier in the book its stated that Baba's house was his pride and joy. It was one of the most beautiful house in Kabul. I think that Amir really thinks it's his father house because when he was a child he didn't feel that he live in the house. Rather he was a guest in His "Father's House" one question that does linger after this chapter is why does Amir read the carving in the tree "Amir and Hassan. The Sultans of Kabul"? I think this answer can be found when Amir seeks redemption. Amir uses this carving as a way to motivate himself to get Hassan child.

  12. Are the Afghanistan people use to what the Taliban do to the public?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes because humans are the most adaptable creatures for the greater good they can't let them self feel bad all the time.

      Delete
    2. The Afghanistan people are used to what the Taliban do to the public so they know were to be extra cautious ect.

      Delete
    3. I don't think that the people are used to the death and brutal beatings given by Taliban, I think that it is just that they can't do anything about it so they go with it and hope that it doesn't happen to them.

  13. When they stone the lady in the stadium, why do they have her blind folded?

    ReplyDelete

    1. @Chris Davis
I think they had them both blind folded the whole time as they didn't say anything about removing the blind folds.
      -Matt Myers.

  14. Why do people put up with this. By this point it would almost better to die.

    ReplyDelete

    1. They can't do anything about it, if you try to you will be killed. People put up with it because of hope, hope that something will make their life better.

  15. On page 272 when it says "I expected delays, a round of questioning at least, perhaps a check of our papers. But I was reminded of how unofficial even official matters were in Afghanistan." I was surprised at how easy it was to schedule an appointment with the Taliban leaders. With how many people in Afghanistan hate them, it seems like people would take advantage of this and more security would have to be enforced. Is this because the Taliban thinks they are unstoppable? Are they unstoppable?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think that since the taliban put so much fear into the people no one even wants to risk trying to kill the leaders. If they did and made it out alive than a new leader would be made and the taliban might even be more harsh.

  17. The Soccer field is just dirt. If soccer is such a big sport there, why cant they add some grass? :(

    ReplyDelete

    1. Because of the lack of money.

    2. Dirt is easier to take of then grass and why waste there money on the people like that. :(

    3. People are lazy.

      Delete
    4. The Taliban thinks the people don't deserve anything nice and should be grateful for what they have.

      Delete
    5. soccer players are dirty, there for they get dirt fields.

      Delete
    6. Good question Graham. I think that they do not add grass primarily because thats what the Afghan people have been playing on their whole lives and also because it could be a money issue.

    7. I think it resembles how the community and how they act and how they do i don't think it just means their poor because that could be shown in a different way

    1. I think that they probably blindfolded the man and not the women because the man could be seen as a bigger thread so they didnt want to take any risks.

  26. Why do you think every one ignored the fact that people were just killed and continue to watch the game

    1. because it had become not only a regular occurance but happened every day. but also because there was nothing they couldve done to prevent it.

  27. On page 263 it says, "I walked back to the Land Cruiser parked along the sidewalk. Farid sat smoking behind the wheel, 'I have to look at one more thing ,' I told him. 'Can you hurry?' 'give me ten minutes.'" Why does Amir have to hurry?

  28. If the person that they were throwing stones at was someone Amir knew would Amir do something or just hide and watch.

    ReplyDelete

    1. He would of had to watch or else he gets killed and besides Amir isn't know for stepping in on a conflict.

      Delete
    2. I think he would just watch because he would get killed and he was on a different mission.

      Delete
    3. I don't think he would do anything because he doesn't want to risk his life and run into the chance of dying.

      Delete

  29. Who does Farid say are “the brains” of the Taliban?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Since no one likes the taliban do you think that any groups are being formed to fight them off and start a war with them.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I think he would hide and watch because of Amir's past with steeping in and helping but then again that past could motivate him to actually step in and help.

    ReplyDelete
  32. How did the Taliban take over Afghanistan, and who did they take it from?

    ReplyDelete
  33. I think that Taliban leader will have guards with him and will be very cautious.

  34. The Taliban stoned the man in the women in public to display their power. In their eyes it is better to show the people what will happen if they disobey rather then let them find out for themselves. On page 357 Amir states, "I saw a dead body near the restaurant. Thre had been a hanging. A young man dangled from the end of a rope tied to a beam, his face puffy and blue, the clothes hed worn on the last day of his life shredded, bloddy." This quote clearly shows that the Taliban liked to make their punishments public, gory, and make sure they were somewhere where everyone would see.
